Wow, thank you for this idea and the pics. I too wanted to build one. I use to watch the "The Biggest Loser" to stay motivated while excercising but now I am going to connect my laptop to my treadmill and watch some informative movies as I work off the pounds. One question: how do you adjust the treadmill? It appears that the controls might be blocked from your reach. Do you just set the speed etc...??? and start moving? Great idea and pics. Many thanks and keep up the good work!

Bungee cords! Dang! Why didn't I think of that? I splurged at the beginning of the year and bought an expensive treadmill because I've gained a bit of weight in the past 10 years from my sedentary home-based job. I'm still not using it except maybe once a month while I watch a TV show DVD, so I thought I'd figure out a desktop for the treadmill. I was thinking of using a board with bolts and brackets over the handrails, but bungee cords, yes! Easily removable for when I want to job or run instead! Thanks for the tip!

You have a really aesthetically pleasing and informative blog here on treadmill desks. I am building my own...well currently I'm just working on putting together the treadmill but once that's running I should be working at it in no time. For now, I'm just keeping track of what everyone else is doing via my new bloglist (very boring), treadmillworker.blogspot.com. Good luck with getting fit and losing those 15.
